Hurricane Idalia Update

As of 8 am, Hurricane Idalia has made landfall in the Big Bend of Florida as a Category 4 storm. We are still experiencing the outer eastern bands of the storm with rain and intermittent winds and sporadic tornadic activity and lighting strikes. This will occur for most of the day and is expected to dissipate by 6 pm.

All District offices are open for business and all District staff have reported for duty. We have done multiple sweeps of the District and have not observed any damage. All our District facilities are functional (water plant, wastewater plant, lift and pump stations). Duke Energy has not reported any outages.

We will continue to observe the impacts of the storm, but if any resident notices something out of the norm (fallen tree, downed power line, etc), please call the District Office at 863-382-2196 so we can respond. Depending on the weather condition, we will evaluate lifting our local state of emergency later today.
