About Special Districts

Sun N Lake Special DistrictSun ‘n Lake is a member of the Florida Association of Special Districts, Inc. (FASD), a network of over 1,700 special districts with the purpose of providing comprehensive specialized services to our citizens. Common infrastructure improvements provided by The Sun ‘n Lake Improvement District include drainage, potable water, sewerage, roads and parks. The Public Works Division is comprised of three departments that are independently run and managed. Each department plays a vital role in the daily functions of the Sun ‘n Lake of Sebring District.

Our Building & Ground Department ensures public and employee safety while utilizing District public grounds and buildings in addition to ensuring that all areas accessed by the public are clean and well maintained. The division is responsible for all repairs, maintenance and improvements to all District buildings including the District office, the Community Center and appurtenances, and the Golf Clubhouse along with all other facilities accessed by the public.

Our Roads & Drainage Department also ensures public safety while utilizing District roads and sidewalks and to ensure that all of the District common areas are well maintained, manicured and to maintain all mitigated wetland areas throughout the District. The division maintains all roads, right-of-ways and drainage ditches within the District. In addition, the division is responsible for all landscaping and beautification of right-of-ways and ensuring that all garbage and debris is picked up. The division maintains irrigated areas of the district including mowing, fertilizing and general up-keep of the grounds. The flood control/storm water management personnel are responsible for mowing the drainage areas and preventing harmful vegetation from invading the mitigated wetlands.

One of the most notable features that sets our community apart from many others is our Utilities Department. With two wastewater treatment plans and a drinking water pumping system, we provide our residents with an in-house water and sewer system. Our Utilities Department has a budget of over $1 million each year, paid for by each resident's water and sewer bill. Our two wastewater treatment plants process and purify over 510,000 gallons per day.

Sun ‘n Lake is required to have a five-member board of supervisors, elected by the landowners. Residents are welcome to join us at any board meeting to voice their concerns.

Our residents also enjoy a variety of recreational activities in state-of-the-art facilities. Sun ‘N Lake residents have access to our basketball courts, fitness center, pool, playground, tennis courts, and so much more!
